The Concern

Violence is a consumer of the strength of many relationships that manifest hatred, despair, and insanity. It has been the answer to many world problems, and it still is. But, the truth is suppressed for the youth by teaching them “Violence is not the answer.” For America, it faces a new challenge that has impeded a prosperous nation. Gun Violence has destroyed many innocent lives of children, mothers, fathers, etc. But this issue has been disregarded regardless of all the social movements, institutions that are assembled to annihilate this topic. In this essay, with the help of the from four primary sources. My objective is to elucidate how dangerous this topic of gun violence influences the public, future generations and also display in depth about the procedures to annihilate Gun violence in America.

*Article 1 “Implementing a public health approach to gun violence prevention.”

Summary Dr. Frattaroli emphasizes the prevention of gun violence by the involvement of Physicians in the field. The issue of Gun violence is referred to as a “Public Health problem” and to cleanse the issue, Dr.Frattaroli states about the five strategies of how physicians can be engaged. The physicians can involve as a Clinician by identifying and advancing treatment for people in crisis. As a researcher to inform the future gun violence prevention by gathering valuable evidence to share for the population. As a manager of fear to help people control their fear of strangers and politics. Involve as a policy advocate to be the key attributes of the community that actively informs and argues to the federal system about the

policies regarding this issue and finally as leaders that can change the illegitimate policies to help grasp success towards this issue.

Purpose The purpose portrayed by Dr. Frattaroli in this article is to apprise an idea of executing a public mental health approach for the prevention of Gun Violence in America “medicine and public health to be the part of the response to the violence that has become such a defining feature of American Life” ( Fra. 86).

Audience Dr. Frattaroli is directing this issue and the procedure to a scholarly student or an individual that is interested in this topic of gun violence in America. The publication is directed toward the physician community to put a “greater emphasis” and “enforce policies” to prevent violence.

Stance Dr. Frattaroli is in opposition towards the gun violence by referencing gun violence as “public health problem” and with statical information that “on average 285 people every day find themselves on the wrong end of the gun” (Fra 24).

Genre This article is an opinion piece because along with the 5 strategies, Dr. Frattaroli utilizes the terms “physicians can”and implements statistics of “more than 31000 people in this country

died…its victims” (fra 23) in order for the audience to criticize or support the procedure.

Rhetorical Situation The author, Dr.Frattaroli emphasizes the idea of physician involvement in the prevention of gun violence in America. And, informs the individuals that are interested in the field of medicine about the five strategies of how physicians can help reduce gun violence.

This is an opinion piece by Frattaroli because, with the problem of gun violence in America, he implements his five strategies for the audience to criticize or support.

          

*Article 2 “Gun Violence – We’ve had enough #ENOUGH!”.

Summary The synopsis of Kelsey Rogers’s article is about a story of a high school junior named Danny Williams who was allegedly shot erroneously while playing basketball at his hometown in Buffalo, New York. Rogers implies the problem of irresponsible gun dealers in America and that it is not only Danny but many other youths and adults have been the victim of this issue. Successively with the help of the community and lawsuits, the federal system was able to pass a policy “that was able to help hold irresponsible gun sellers accountable for arming dangerous people” (Rogers 34) which supports Danny and many other people in this case. Rogers informs that Lawsuits are significant in preventing Gun Violence In America.

Purpose Rogers motive towards the audience from this article is to display how lawsuits can be utilized to improve the situation of Gun Violence so people like Danny will still have the future they desire. “Lawsuits are critical to reforming irresponsible gun dealer practices and preventing gun violence in America.” ( Rogers 44-45).

Audience This article is addressed for the marginated communities, in order to liberate the individuals about how criminals are armed in and how lawsuits are important to stop gun violence in America. Danny was from a bad community where violence is more prominent.“ The shooter was a known gang member who mistakenly believed Danny was a member of a rival gang” (Rogers 15).

Stance Rogers is opposition towards the topic of gun violence because the “responsible gun dealers know that innocent people are at risk to be injured…just about profit.”  The terms “innocent”, ”risk” emphasizes how sympathetic Rogers feels about the victims of gun violence in America and it should be understood “ the gun industry should act responsibly when selling lethal firearms” (Rogers 51).

Genre This is a nonfiction article by Rogers because it describes the details about the case of Danny and manifests the problem of “irresponsible gun sellers accountable for arming dangerous people” (Rogers 32).  

Rhetorical Situation Kelsey Rogers highlights the idea to inform the audience coming from the marginated communities about how the criminals are accessing guns and the idea of lawsuits to reduce gun violence in America. Against the idea of Gun violence, this nonfiction article is about the real-life case of Danny, it was the key feature for the judiciary branch to impose laws against the irresponsible gun marketers.

*Article 3 “America is one of 6 countries that make up more than half of Gun Death World Wide”  

Summary With the statistical studies among various industrialized, non-industrialized nations, Lopez concludes with an answer that the United States is labeled to be the most developed with deficient gun laws worldwide due to its large population and high firearms possession. Homicide, suicide, mass shooting, etc. the United States stands tall among any developed nation. To prevent this issue, Lopez emphasizes that stronger Gun laws should be directed for the population.

Purpose  The main objective of this article is to inform the audience about how America has a large no. of gun homicides similar to a non-developed nation due to the weak gun policy. “Time and time again, researchers have linked these factors to America’s high rates of gun violence…when it comes to guns” (Lopez 36).

Audience The intended audience addressed by Lopez is for the individuals to obtain information about the Gun violence statistics around the world and also towards the American people. “The  US was one of 17 countries (out of 195) in which both firearm homicides… median”(Lopez 21).

Stance Lopez uses terms “us” to describe himself and how “the study gives us the best look yet into gun deaths worldwide — and it’s not good for America” (Lopez 32). Against the idea of gun violence in America, Lopez emphasizes that America is the most violent developed nation compared to the world.

Genre This article is a nonfiction piece because it gives the demographic study that compares various countries against the united states to conclude the answer of having a weak gun policy. “ The US has nearly six times the gun homicide rate of Canada, more…developed nations” (Lopez 29)

Rhetorical Situation German Lopez emphasizes to inform the audience about the weak gun policy that has caused America to be the most violent developed nation in the world. Lopez uses the term “us” to represent the Americans and himself as the intended audience and show in opposition towards gun violence, It is a nonfictional article because of the Statistical study and comparison of the developed and undeveloped nations to conclude that America should create stronger laws

*Article 4  “Could monitoring students on social media stop the next school shooting?”

Summary  In this article, Aaron Leibowitz illustrates the escalating problem of Mass – School shootings in America. With the reference of Parkland and Sandy Hook shootings, every public district schools implemented the plan of Monitoring students through social media to stop the violence before it happens. With the agenda to find the odd one out, these companies use geofencing to obtain the student’s private content. Not enough evidence to prove that the method works, it has created a dissociation in the society to whether this technique works or not.

Purpose The main intention of this article is to inquire a question for the audience to know if monitoring students throughout social media would help reduce school shootings before it occurs. “Governor take pride that a Vermont based company helps identify… it happens (Aaron 4).

Audience Aaron addresses the question to every parents and student because the “monitoring programs have often been initiated without notifying” them and the institution (Aaron 49-50)

Stance Aaron is indifferent about the topic of if monitoring students could help prevent gun violence among schools. Aaron first implies that the idea of school monitoring does “expand the traditional boundaries of responsibility” (Aaron 29) but contradicts that “in many cases, the monitoring commands have not worked as planned. (Aaron 35).

Genre It is a nonfiction article written by Aaron Leibowitz because with the context of school shootings in “Parkland, Fla.” and the ‘Sandy hook” shootings (Aaron 1, 88), Aaron inquires the question of monitoring programs to the audience.

Rhetorical Situation In this article, Aaron Leibowitz emphasizes to inquire a question to the audience“if monitoring students could help prevent the school shoots before it happens”. Aaron addresses this article to the parents and students in order to notify the pros and cons of the monitoring companies. Aaron is indifferent about the situation of monitoring programs for the safety of students because there is no evidence that this technique of monitoring works in the present time. It is a nonfiction article because Aaron displays the parkland, sandy hook shootings to conclude the question of monitoring student’s privacy.

REFLECTION All the four sources, each author emphasizes the issue of gun violence in America and

provides in details about each procedure: assistance with physicians, lawsuits, stronger gun policy, and monitoring programs are necessary information for the intended audience to observe and apply to the present. There is a difference in the intended audience in each article but broadly, it is intended for every American because America suffers from this issue. Three out of four sources are non-fiction articles, and one is an opinion piece. Authors of each section are anti-gun violence and with the assistance of the real-world problems, each author displays gun violence as a significant threat for the United States.

In Conclusion, With the various ideas and strategies from all of the authors of the articles. It can be an excellent use to literate the population about what this Gun Violence is and how it is affecting our communities and the future generations. These Propositions can be utilized in the present time of the United States to eradicate Gun Violence for good.
